Skul: The Hero Slayer features two-dimensional pixel art graphics in an eye-pleasing, colorful style. However, the protagonist keeps the crystals gained in previous attempts, which allow to purchase various upgrades. As death is permanent here, when Skul dies, there's nothing left for us to do but to start the fight all over again. On our way we face various opponents - apart from regular soldiers and adventurers we have to deal with, among others, animated trees at the end of each stage there's a clash with a powerful boss (usually much bigger than the protagonist). At the same time you can have two skulls, which allows you to combine their powers in impressive (and effective) combinations and adapt your skills to the situation in which you find yourself at any given time. While some can make him a seasoned dark knight wielding a sword or allow him to cast offensive spells like a true sorcerer, others will turn him into monsters that spread fear among the heroes. Along the way, however, he finds skulls, which are the local equivalent of character classes and provide him with a variety of abilities. Headless Skul in his standard form is not too powerful, which makes him a mortal threat to each encountered opponent.
During the game we travel through various procedurally generated stages and face hordes of enemies. In Skul: The Hero Slayer we observe the action from the side. From now on it rests on his shoulders the task of rescuing the king and his subjects and dealing with the invaders. Almost, because there was only one skeleton left - the Skul of the title. The fortress quickly surrendered, and almost all of the creatures that inhabited it were taken prisoner. The Demon King's castle was attacked by the combined forces of adventurers and imperial army, led by the powerful Hero of Caerleon. Skul: The Hero Slayer takes us on a journey to a fantastic land. The title was developed by an independent studio SouthPAW Games and was published by NeoWiz. Skul: The Hero Slayer is a roguelike production realized in the convention of an action platform game.
